***TRAFFIC ADVISORY***

The Rehabilitation of the Howard Theatre Area, N.W.
7th Street Streetscape project will begin on January 19, 2016

Project runs from N Street to Florida Avenue (excluding T Street INTERSECTION)

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will change the traffic patterns on 7th Street NW from N street to Florida Avenue.  This construction project begins Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at 7 am, weather permitting.

The work is expected to continue until January 2017.

These closures are needed to install new streetlights, traffic signals and landscaping along 7th Street, NW.  The work includes the replacement of sidewalks, curb and gutters, sidewalk ramps and the installation of multi-use meters, catch basins, bike racks, new trees and tree planter boxes, mill and overlay of the roadway.

Curbside parking may be restricted while work is underway. Emergency No Parking signs will be posted a minimum of 72 hours before the start of construction. Sidewalk detours will also be in place while sidewalk repair is in progress. Signage and protective barriers will be used to maintain public safety.

Motorists should expect delays, and are advised to seek alternative routes. DDOT encourages all who travel in this area to stay alert and to obey all construction signs.
